Mexico offers some of the best scuba diving destinations in the world. The barrier reef that begins in Cozumel is the second longest barrier reef in the world (Australia’s Great Barrier Reef is the longest.) Cozumel is the largest island in the Mexican Caribbean, situated near the eastern tip of the Yucatan Peninsula, and it is also the most populated island in Mexico. Cozumel became the primary scuba diving destination right from the get-go and quickly became overcrowded with divers. Up until 30 years ago, travelers had limited choices in Mexico because there were fewer choices concerning transportation.

March is an ideal time to plan a kayak tour of Isla Espiritu Santo, one of the most pristine and intact ecosystems in the Sea of Cortez. Springtime in Mexico is the ideal time for exploring, when the summer heat has not yet reached its peak, the winter winds begin to die down, and the Sea of Cortez is calm. March, April and May bring warmer air and less wind, but since water temperatures lag behind air temperatures, the scuba diving and snorkeling season has not quite yet begun and the best exploring options are above the waters. Isla Espiritu Santo is situated 16 miles north of CostaBaja Resort and Marina, and 20 miles north of La Paz.

There are usually four players involved in purchasing property in Mexico, besides the buyer and the seller: A real estate company (or real estate agent), the buyer’s lawyer, a bank and a Public Notary. Transactions outside of the restricted zone do not involve a bank since it is not necessary to establish a real estate trust in those areas.

Property values in Mexico, like in the US, tend to increase year-over-year. As the demand for oceanfront property in the US has outstripped supply, it has become an unobtainable and unaffordable commodity for the average person. In Mexico, there are still numerous locations where one can still afford the ocean front home, condo or lot as prices started at a much lower price point.
