Hola Amigos Y Amigas! It’s so great to get a letter all the way from Vancouver, Canada! Hi Jake! Thanks for writing to me!
Fun Baja can set you up with gear and equipment, as well as transportation and itineraries for camping, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, whale-watching, day trips, tours, wow Jake, you could be busy for a whole year, just hopping from one adventure to the next! If you’re the outdoorsy type, you can combine activities: how about a camping trip that includes snorkeling, scuba diving and kayaking?
The Sea of Cortez is one of the most exciting places in the world and the perfect place to try new things! We have 37 islands covered with white sand beaches to explore. Espiritu Santo Island, for example, is a National Reserve where people can enjoy diving, camping, snorkeling, hiking, kayaking and many other activities for individual or families who love the great outdoors. Fun Baja offers first class camping adventures with big tents, fresh water showers, and running water toilets, umbrellas, beach chairs, shade canopies, a generator for electricity, kayaks, and everything you need to be comfortable. There are several rate and length-of-stay packages, from a mini safari (one night, 2 days) to a big safari (3 nights, 4 days) to choose from. Plus, Fun Baja camping includes all meals, with different menu items every day, prepared by a professional chef and served with cold drinks (water, soft drinks, red & white wine, tequila and Mexico’s famous margaritas!)
There are also some
great day trips, such as a 3-hour city tour of my beautiful home town of La Paz! From 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, an English-speaking guide will lead you on visits to the Mission of La Paz, Museum, Pottery factory, textile factory and the beautiful beaches of Balandra & Tecolote. For adults, it’s $45.00 USD per person; $30 USD for children.
Another fun tour — really, it is!—is the
Cactus Tour, including a visit to the mining town of El Triunfo. Located 25 miles south of La Paz on Highway One, the gold and silver mining town near El Triunfo dates back to the colonial age. It once had a population of 4000 residents, a mix of Mexican, Italian, French, English North Americans, German and Chinese. At its peak, El Triunfo had over 14,000 inhabitants. Easily-recognizable with its tall chimney, this symbol of El Triunfo is considered to be an engineering wonder. Built between 1860 and 1892 under the design of Alexander Gustave Eiffel, the architect, of course, of the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris! Ooh LA-LA! Magic and mysticism adorn this former colonial town, the last vestiges of an 18th century empire where it seems that time has stood still.
