Two rising stars shone brightly at CostaBaja Resort & Marina recently. To the delight of residents and visitors, on June 27th former Latin American Idol contestant Samantha Rae wowed the enthusiastic audience at CostaBaja with her powerful voice and range of musical styles — from blues to rock, country and pop. The following evening, 2008 Beijing Olympic hopeful Paola Espinosa moved the crowd with her inspirational words at the marina village — Pueblo Marinero — to a backdrop of her collection of medals and swimsuits.

Samantha Rae's show pulled out all the stops, including back-up dancers and singers and a few duets with Nayn, first place winner in the Mexican singing contest 'Nace una Voz.' The fireworks that went off a couple of times matched perfectly the high energy of this woman on the rise. Samantha praised CostaBaja's facilities and stated, 'I absolutely loved the concert the other night! CostaBaja offered the perfect backdrop, elegance and exclusivity that I was looking for to present my first album, Historias.' She further expressed her desire to return and perform at CostaBaja Resort & Marina.

Diver Paola Espinosa was awarded a gold coin, inscribed with 'Paola Espinosa Orgullo SudCaliforniano de Exportación' meaning, 'Pride of Baja California Sur' from Alejandro Yberri, CostaBaja Resort & Marina's Director General. Sr. Yberri went on to say, 'Here at CostaBaja Resort & Marina, we are very pleased to receive local talent that will represent Mexico in the coming Olympic Games.' Paola, along with Ma Jin, Chinese coach for the Mexican Olympic Team, spoke to journalists from ESPN about her goals of trying constantly to improve herself and fighting to achieve her dreams.

In addition to the exhibition in Paola's honor, Samantha Rae surprised the crowd by dedicating the song Fly to Paola. Fly is based on Samantha's own experiences in achieving her musical aspirations. Both of these remarkable young ladies provided the audience with a fabulous weekend of entertainment and proved that there's always something exciting happening at CostaBaja Resort & Marina.
